The rules to follow to keep road safety

They land in our streets!

“Overboard”, electric scooter, mini-bike… These motorized wheeled vehicles, usually electrical democratize and it’s a safe bet that they will multiply on public roads. But what are the rules governing their use? How to keep the road safety?

These vehicles require no registration.

For an electric bike reaches a maximum speed of 25km / h, it does not take either. By cons when it exceeds the power of 250w and we exceed 25km / h, and is akin to a moped, the registration is mandatory as the safety vest.

Absolute respect for pedestrians

Often semi-pedestrian area, road landscape merges with sidewalks and pedestrians remain in these circumstances there priority! You are punished if you make the Fungi over 6km / h on sidewalks and pedestrian areas! In addition to walking pace, electric scooter, “PT” and electric skateboard should use bike paths when they exist and if they do not exist, it will be on the road with cars.

The equipment

It is not mandatory but recommended. Knee pads, elbow pads, helmets, protective wrist are needed. A reflective vest is not a luxury.

Good trip and be safe!

A surprising range of reflective bike clothing

The English brand Proves has developed clothes of reflective material that are both very comfortable and highly visible to accompany cyclists during their various cycling excursions, day as well as night.

Distributed today in 40 different countries, Proviso was born from the spirit of two London brothers. In 2008, as they regularly go to work by bicycle, they begin to realize the limits of cycling clothing. They decided to embark on the Proviso adventure to create innovative equipment. Innovative, powerful and highly visible! The brand is notably spotted thanks to Trivia. This is a light-emitting, electroluminescent and waterproof illumination that makes it possible to gain visibility. Then it builds a reputation thanks to high-quality, highly reflective clothes, to be used daily for bike rides as well as for any other sporting activity.

Comfortable and breathable, they also adapt perfectly to the morphology of each.

The Reflect360 jacket is made from a special material made of tiny glass beads on the entire surface. This guarantees the cyclist a great 360 ° visibility since as soon as it is dark; the jacket becomes extremely reflective in front of a light source like the headlights of a car. Perfect for a safe bike ride! Not to mention that the jacket is also very comfortable. Waterproof, it has several pockets to carry with you its keys or its telephone. It also tightens at the wrists and on the bottom to prevent air from entering when you are pedaling.

The Switch vest

The Switch vest is very handy to cycle under all circumstances. Indeed as it is reversible, it is possible to adopt the fluorescent yellow side to be spotted by day and to return it at night to enjoy its reflective tape side. Sleeveless, it slips on the clothes and adjusts with elastics at the shoulders and the waist.

Also, the traffic is difficult to implement in dense fog conditions in the county of Constance, the DN22 between Constance. On this portion visibility is less than 50 meters, and the roadway is wet. Reflective vest for the walk group

They arrive in dribs and drabs, but in less than ten minutes the square of the Pinetop station fills. They are 21 and wear a safety vest, as is now happening uninterruptedly since 3 March, every Monday and Thursday, is meeting in front of the station the people of the walkers, a few hundred people on average for a couple of hours are devoted to a walk health. Young and old, but also children on the stroller and dogs on a leash, all united by the desire to spend time together, do a little ‘healthy physical activity.

To design the “walking group” pieties, the primary cardiac surgery Atria, Antonio Macanese Santorin, fascinated by the experience made by a colleague of Terumi, he has decided to repeat the initiative even in Pinetop.

“When we started we were in 140,” said the doctor, “but then slowly, thanks to a spontaneous word of mouth, and the group grew, reaching, one spring evening, in 430 appearances. We walk every time from 6 to 9 km and it is nice to see how, through this merry party, the whole country comes alive, especially, once the tourists leave, on winter evenings. ”

The event, in fact, is known by all and also had the support of the city administration. To participate all you need is good shoes, a flashlight and a reflective vest.

“In a country where there are great opportunities to socialize,” added Macanese, “the walking group allows you to get together, learn corners of the territory that often even the residents know and have direct contact with nature. One of the most fascinating experiences, in fact, was able to walk a few weeks ago on a carpet of fireflies. Moreover, thanks to the efforts of volunteers, there is the certainty of just along the way not to be left that, however, can be done by everyone. Among our walkers we also had a sprightly 92 year-old man, as a boy of just two months in a wheelchair with her mother. ”

And, despite the decline in attendance recorded in the month of August because of the holidays, we hope to return in the next few appointments to the usual numbers.

“Walking is good and anyone can do it, wear reflective clothing will be better for safety” he concluded Macanese, “but to do so together we have more fun.”

Cyclists required a reflective jacket but no helmet

Effective from today there is the new rules of the road. Take the obligation to wear a reflective vest in the evening hours and in tunnels. Deleted, however, the compulsory use of helmets for children under 14

Pedaling in the evening? It can, but only with a reflective vest. And ‘one of the major changes in force from today, the new rules of the road that forces cyclists to wear a mandatory vest or suspenders reflective high visibility in the evening – by half an hour after sunset to half an hour before sunrise – and always in the gallery. The new provision extends the obligation, already envisaged in 2004 for car drivers, to use the high visibility warning clothing. For bicycles the vest will be mandatory on the open road, for those who break the new regulations are provided for fines of 23 Euros.

The vests and suspenders, according to European standard UNI EN 471, must be of a durable color to rubbing, perspiration, washing and ironing and have to endure the outbreak of knitted materials, water vapor, traction and tearing of coated and laminated fabrics. As for the marking and information to be provided to the manufacturer, the standard refers to the requirements defined in the UNI EN 340 and states that on the garment is applied to a pictogram in which they reported the class of the garment and the class the retro reflective material performance. These other innovations of the Highway Code in force today:

The bicycle helmet, no longer mandatory for children under 14

Mandatory for younger children under the age of fourteen, in the final version of the law 120/2010 has been completely deleted.

In motion only with helmet

Now riders can no longer wear the old helmets ‘to bowl’, out of business since 1 September 2004 and no longer verifiable by 2003. Under only the whole or jet helmets (with adequate side protection) approved according to UN-ECE regulations. The reform of the Code also provides for the testing of electronic helmet (connected to the motorcycle via Bluetooth).

Revision, bikes as cars

All motorcycles are subject to review every four years after enrollment (the first) and every two (successive). Also the safety vest is required.

The reflective jacket lobby won in April-ahead obligation

The “lobby of the vest” won. And from April the famous warning vest will obligatory throughout Italy. The law in fact is not required under the jacket on all cars (as happens instead for the triangle), but stipulates that any emergency operation around the car should be carried out with the famous jacket.

Thus any contravention would take effect only if you are caught “in flagrante delicate”. We must say that any measure to reduce the risk of accidents is welcome, even if it favors some powerful industrial lobby.

The point is that the case of fluorescent jackets is a striking example of disregard for their security that you would like to increase.

The decree in fact creates a huge legal vacuum on the insurance front: if a motorist is hit near his car without wearing a reflective vest , the insurance will not pay. This is the only operation certainty “jackets”.

There is however certain statistics on how many motorists are invested while changing a tire, on how many accidents could be avoided with this rule, on indirect benefits linked to an increased visibility of pedestrians around cars parked.

We only know that from April onwards insurance will have a new excuse not to pay. And the turnover of the companies that manufacture these jackets will increase.

But it is not – unfortunately – all: the next step will be to make it compulsory to apply strips reflectors on all trucks. An optional thing throughout Europe, but we will be compulsory by law. It will thus sell kilometers reflective adhesive strips to cover all trucks circulating in Italy.

But back to the jacket which, by the way, should cost about 10 Euros. The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport has in fact issued a decree with directions to the personal protective equipment for drivers of passenger cars.

The vests and suspenders must comply with the essential health and safety described in the legislative decree of 4 December 1992, n. 475. And manufacturers will be able to present, on request, in addition to the EC declaration of conformity even with the certificate of conformity. That has to be evaluated by testing for CE certification, by which an approved inspection body certifies that individual protective equipment is manufactured in accordance with relevant national standards, transposing the harmonized standards. For high visibility garments harmonized standard reference is UNI EN 471.

The high visibility vest is now mandatory

Here comes the obligation of reflective vest for all the riders who will travel the French roads.

Are you going to pass along the beautiful French roads during the upcoming motorcycle season? If so, you must remember to bring the reflective jacket with you. A law recently approved by the Government over the Alps made it obligatory – as from 1 January 2016 – the presence of many motorcycles, scooters (with two or three wheels) and light quadricycle with bodywork (like the quads) of the high visible vest.

A law criticized

The rule, harshly criticized by the FFMC, French was strongly supported by the executive, which, to ensure greater safety on the roads, has decided to impose the presence of the fluorescent yellow jacket also in the vehicles listed above in order to increase the visibility of their drivers in case of stop along the roadway.

Penalties for those who do not have it

If the rule becomes similar to that imposed on motorists, as such it will be the fate of those who will be without during a check of the French Police Force: in both cases the penalty will go from 11 to 135 Euros. In the absence of the vest to put on the technical leaders, it is considered valid even the high visibility garment, provided they respect the European standards EN 1150 and EN 471 (located on the label). Moreover, it is clear, it is not obligatory on him to keep his head in normal driving conditions, but only in case of accident or failure or poor visibility as fog or heavy rain. Just like the cars, the important thing is it with him always.

Beware the scams of technicians fake with reflective vest

In recent days, two individuals pretended to Hera technicians dressed in suits and jackets with yellow reflective material, they played at the door of a building via 24 Maggie, asking to enter to carry out some of the control technology heating. A woman, however, did not confide and threatened to call the police, resulting in the immediate escape of two technicians fake with reflective vest. But not only were they also made attempts to telephone scam with the car crash gimmick. Elderly achieved with calls from fake members of the police informing them of an accident in one of their children or a relative, uninsured: with this excuse the elder is asked to pay a large sum, up to 500 Euros, to prevent the person involved in the incident have trouble with the law. Attempts are always intensified at the beginning of the month, when the elderly have greater availability of money, after the withdrawal of the pension.

To combat scams, the Carabineer organizes information events to the population: the last to the weekly market, frontlines Officer Silvia Guerin in reflective clothing, Captain of the Society, just at the end of November. They are also printed leaflets were also part of the Provincial Command of Rimini with all the advice to defend them better by fraudsters and raiders from the apartment.
