Luminous vest – “See Me” for safety

Safety vest for cyclists and motorcyclists with special LED display for traffic – is a project of students from the Technical University of Bialystok. In their view, the vest will increase visibility on the road; will also facilitate communication with other users of the road.

– “See Me” – is a project of students of the mechanical department at the Technical University of Bialystok. The team consists of four people – says Alexander.

Every year there are traffic participants on motorcycles and bicycles, increasingly they are also participant’s accident – say the designers. From conducted by students, surveys show that most people believe that this is the invisibility of the way.

Hence the idea for the vest, which in addition to reflective material elements will have a special LED display that will show themselves to the messages, such as “stop” and when turning arrows indicating the direction of the turn.

The display would be controlled wirelessly by a special panel placed. In contrast, the same panel will be programmed from the application, where you can set a password for each key, which will be showed on the display when activated.

As explained Tomasz, the panel must be positioned close to the steering wheel wheeler to be able to – as in the case of a bicycle – quickly press the appropriate button. When turning left or right. As for the motor, designers want to be connected to the steering wheel so that the appropriate messages on the display appear automatically. When you press the brake would show the word “stop”. Tomasz adds that the team is currently working on solutions to connect the panel to the motor, but also to the bike, because they want to be when you press the brake inscription “Stop” also appears automatically.

Students of Bialystok University of Technology have a prototype

Currently, engineers are ready prototype vest, but – as he says Tomasz – it is not “connected” with the single-track. He added that developed there are individual elements, but hopes that manage to finish them in the next year.

Students explored previously whether there are similar solutions, but found only a jacket for motorcyclists with reflectors and reflective vests for cyclists. – Thanks to the “See Me” – notes Tomasz – users of two-wheelers will be more visible.

The “See Me” Bialystok University of Technology is one of this year’s winners of the “Techno talent” for innovative ideas of young people from the province of Poleis.
