The danger in the dark

Kirchhoff – On Saturday evening there was an accident between a car and a 94-year-old pedestrian. The reason for this was that the driver saw the lady too late in the dark. There is no reflective material on this lady. Police warn of danger in winter.

A 94-year-old female pedestrian was seriously injured in a traffic accident on Saturday around 19:20. The pensioner wanted to cross a street in Kirchhoff, which is equipped with no street lighting and was thereby captured by a car. The 39-year-old driver from the district of Ending, despite an evasive maneuver, could no longer prevent the collision.

The 94-year-old was taken to the hospital with severe head injuries. The fire brigade Kirchhoff was in this accident with ten men in action. The prosecution commissioned a report and ordered the securing of the car.

The police advise in this connection:

Watch out for twilight and darkness for bright and, ideally, reflective clothing. Dressed in a dark, you are the earliest from about 25 meters away. This can be too short for a timely pause or avoidance.

With reflectors on and reflective tapes in your clothing, you increase your visibility to up to 150 meters – enough distance and time for you and for motorists to react!

It’s worth remembering about reflections

In schools, the subject of reflections is coming back. They have already started in Leech.

The “Reflective School” reached the students of the Primary School in Leech. Kids dressed in reflective vests and other reflective materials promoted road safety among the local community.

It is on the rural, low-lit, often without pavement roads that such an initiative is needed. That is why students provided with banners encouraging them to move safely along the road under the supervision of a police patrol marched through the streets of the town to draw the attention of residents to the need for such behavior, and thus to reduce the risks in road traffic – explain the originators of the action.

The owners of local shops who received reflective materials from the students also helped in promoting this idea. It’s for customers.

In addition, students of the eighth grade, under the care of teachers, encouraged older people to wear reflections.

Before the evening service, they handed out reflective tapes to adults and especially the elderly. The action was met with great gratitude among seniors. Remember to wear flares, especially now, when autumn, shorter days are coming! – they add at the school in Legalize.

Four new daycare centers equipped with safety vests

Four Consoling day-care centers – the band of knights at the town hall, Copperhead in Dunderhead, the Highlighter Tubercle and the energy wharves Mitterrand – were delighted to receive new reflective vests. Bergen Dalmatian, chairman of the traffic guard Consoling presented on Tuesday each facility a set of 30 west for the children and two west for the educators. Julia Arras, the head of the Kit Telebanking, had appealed to the employees of the traffic police and they had responded promptly.

West for children and educators

About three years ago, all Consoling kindergartens and elementary schools were equipped by the Wehrmacht Consoling, which is always committed to the safety (not only) of children in road traffic, each with a class set of safety vests. With this small but valuable contribution, they also supported this time. The vests remain in the facilities and can be worn on excursions.

Before distributing, Bergen Dalmatian wanted to know from the children why one should wear such vests. Of course, the kids had the right answer: “So that the motorists can see us better.” Clothing with reflective tapes is visible at around 150 meters. Practical side effect from the point of view of the educators: If they are traveling with the children, for example in the zoo, the little ones can be seen much more easily because of the bright yellow color.

Reflective materials to see 150 meters

The garments had to be tried on immediately. The little ones were very happy about their new vests. The mother of little Thomas from the daycare center Copperhead was also happy. “When I drive Thomas to the daycare center in the morning, I always find out how many of the children are hard to see.” She praised the members of the public security team for taking time out to give them the necessary insight.

A reflective tour around the province is underway

Today, the students of the General Education School in Gemological in the Greece district received reflective tapes.

This is another edition of the “You are visible, you’re safe” campaign, organized by the Provincial Road Traffic Center in Radium and the Marshal’s Office of the Mackenzie Comradeship. Over 120 students of grades I-VII received safety vests. They had the opportunity to practice their skills on a bicycle obstacle course. They also familiarized themselves with the principles of first aid and road safety.

– Today the children got sets with four reflective materials. These are two wristbands that can be put on your arm, leg and two pendants, which you can attach to your backpack or keys – said Tomas Godzilla from the Marshal’s Office.

– In addition to education, safety and health are in the first place. This campaign should be promoted by all schools to make young people aware that this safety is the most important thing for their lives – said Atalanta Tomcat, the director of ZSO.

Audrey and Richard test the new uniform of ambulance personnel

DEN BOSCH – Sportier, fresher and more modern. This is what the new uniform of ambulance staff looks like. The old uniform is already 15 years old and no longer recognizable enough. A trial started on Wednesday. Audrey from Den Bosch and Richard from Aden are already walking around in the uniform.

Meanwhile, not only the ambulance staff is wearing yellow and green clothing. So it was time for another design: ‘the new blue’.

Clothing designer Karin Leger from Dint-Michelangelo designed the clothes and she started doing so already in 2017. “I started talking to people all over the country, telling them what they miss or want to keep,” she explains. There is a detail on the pants for a notebook. That was suggested by someone who had worked in Switzerland.

By attending exercises Karin discovered the needs of the staff: “I saw that the ambulance staff is on the ground a lot, their legs are lost, I have strips on the calves, so they always remain visible.” There is a lot of reflective tapes on the uniform, the back of the winter jacket even consists entirely of reflective material.

Probation

Over the next three weeks, 50 ambulance staff across the Netherlands will test the reflective clothing. This allows the design to be perfected. Among them are Audrey from Den Bosch and Richard from Aden.

“It is delicious, much more feminine and I also like the color,” says Audrey. Richard is also very pleased: “The fit is fine, and when I push through my knees, everything fits perfectly, and safety meets the requirement.”

Bantu product

Not only the designer comes from Bantu, but also the entire production takes place here. Supplier Wilt in Aden is working on the project together with clothing producer HAVEP in Lenoir. They were chosen on the policy in sustainability. The clothing is made under good conditions in Macedonia and the materials used are more environmentally friendly. “It is an example for the government, which makes me extra proud,” says the designer.

The rules around Europe for 2019

Each country has different rules on mandatory protections: this is where you have to wear a lot more than the helmet when you go on a motorcycle.

In the various European countries, there are different provisions of the Highway Code in force for drivers of two-wheeled vehicles. To date, Italy appears as one of the least regulated states with the sole obligation to wear a helmet in the saddle. While discussing the approval of stricter rules for bikes and motorcycles, here are the main differences between the major European states and what you need to know if you are traveling on a motorcycle outside of Italy.

France

In France, there is a strict system of rules on mandatory equipment for motorcyclists. There is an obligation, for drivers and passengers of motorcycles and scooters, to wear motorcycle gloves. It does not matter if you are driving a maxi-enduro or a 1980 Vespasian 125, you are obliged to wear gloves that are summer or winter, whether the journey is long or short. But be careful, because gloves must be EU-approved. The French law also provides for the obligation to wear an approved reflective jacket (UNI) EN-471 or EN-1150.

Germany

The mandatory equipment for those traveling on the Teutonic roads is prescription glasses or spare lenses for those who have the prescription for driving as for the car and helmet required for driver and passenger.

Spain

In Spain, the use of helmets is compulsory only for motorcycles with a displacement of more than 125 cc and there is no requirement for other protective clothing.

UK

In England, there are no real mandatory equipment, only recommendations for the reflective jacket with reflective tapes, first aid kit, and light bulbs. Curiously, the helmet is not mandatory for the passenger in the sidecar. In the case of a motorbike-tourist wishing to enter England, the helmet must be of a model conforming to British law, but if you want to visit the United Kingdom, be careful to drive on the right side. At the moment it is not known whether after the Brevity the United Kingdom intends to go back to homogenization its own helmets or if it will continue to adopt the ECE legislation.

Austria

In Austria, there is an obligation to wear a helmet for driver and passenger while it is only recommended to wear a reflective vest when riding.

Portugal, Slovenia, Lithuania, and Croatia

Slovenia, Lithuania, and Croatia require the use of helmets in motorcycles and scooters but also that those who are in the saddle as a passenger are at least 12 years old. In Portugal, in addition to the use of the mandatory case, the age threshold falls to 7 years to be able to ride as a passenger.

Holland

In Holland to drive a motorcycle or moped over 50cc, you must be at least 18 years old. Having said that the use of the helmet, discounted for those who go in motion, is also extended to light quadriceps if they are not equipped with safety belts.

Finland

In Finland, there are no special requirements for protections beyond the helmet, which even becomes mandatory only on motorcycles and mopeds over 50 cc.

Delegation to driving

The fact that many other countries of the European Union are not mentioned does not mean that at least the helmet is not mandatory in motion, while other prescriptions may be necessary. For example, in many countries, although it is not mandatory, it is strongly recommended to have a reflective jacket and a proxy to drive the motorcycle owned by a third party (if borrowed) authenticated by a notary. On the ACI website, you can find other rules and advice for traveling in Europe.

So children are safer in the dark

Reflective tapes should be part of the basic clothing. Traffic educator of the police gives tips.

Consoling. Even though the days are starting to get longer again, it’s still dark on the morning walk to school, and even on the way home for afternoon recreational activities, children often return home in the dark.

Poor visibility, which is made even more difficult by rain, snow or mist, especially for children, who already have disadvantages in road traffic anyway due to their small body size. Compared to the bright half of the year, the statistics show a doubling of the number of accidents in the winter months – and the number of falls is also significantly higher.

How can you try to prevent falls?

It should be clear to everyone, my experts, that it is easier to slip on trendy shoes such as sneakers with smooth soles than with soles.

How can children be better protected against accidents?

“One should make it as easy as possible for the car driver to perceive a child on the road,” says Karin Gravitas, one of the three traffic educators of the police in Consoling. “Concretely: wear reflective clothing or at least reflector strips. You can buy for little money so-called clack bands, which can be well attached to the arm and chest or back. “She wants to release anyone at the wheel of a vehicle from his responsibility to be mindful, stressed the High Commissioner. But what you can do as a pedestrian to be better seen, you should do. Incidentally, this also applies in a special way to seniors, who are often slower and possibly – like children – not able to quickly perceive and react adequately to a dangerous traffic situation.

“Equip the bike well with reflectors.”

Karin Gravitas, traffic educator of the police

Should there be a change on the actually well-practiced route, parents are well advised to improve the traffic training once again. “Construction sites, for example, can change conditions so that what they have learned is no longer readily applicable,” explains Gravitas. Adolescents can confidently survey new and unfamiliar traffic situations themselves and decide what is needed at an acute age, as a teenager. “Until then, kids are shouting what they’ve done with them. And that’s a special challenge in the dark. ”

What does the police think about cycling in dark January?

If you do not want to do without cycling in the winter, your bike should also be well equipped with reflectors, emphasizes Karin Gravitas. There are enough good accessories that are easy to attach to. “For example on the pedals.” If you wear a backpack, it should also be marked. “Just because he may be hiding the reflective jacket.”

Incidentally, the traffic policewoman does not think it’s a good idea to send the kids by bike on snow and ice. Narrow bicycle tires are completely unsuitable for road conditions that already pose a challenge to the car. “Then rather walk.”

He hit a woman and was detained

The policemen arrested a man who was supposed to hit a woman within a pedestrian crossing by car and then leave the scene of the incident.

The day before yesterday in the evening there was a woman’s deduction within the belts on Wovoka Polanski Street in Napoleonic. The alleged perpetrator departed from the scene of the incident (more).

– Shortly after this incident, the driver of the car was stopped. He was sober – says Sgt. Pie. Alexandra Prepackage, press officer of the Aviator Police Headquarters in Napoleonic. The uniform in this matter will carry out further activities.

Let’s see the reflections! Police message

The safety of pedestrians on the road, especially outside built-up areas, depends on their good visibility. For many years, policemen have reminded us of the importance of the role of reflective materials in increasing the visibility of pedestrians and cyclists. Good visibility is one of the most important safety factors in road traffic.

The principle of “seeing and being seen” should guide us with adult pedestrians, but we should also talk about it to our children. Napoleonic policemen during all safety meetings remind us how important it is to wear reflective elements. Currently, many clothing, school bags, backpacks and shoes for children already have per-stitched reflective tapes sewn in.

Reminder:

  1. During poor visibility, when the pedestrian is wearing gray-black clothes and does not have reflective elements on the outer garment, the driver notices it with a long delay.
  2. Remember that in the dark the pedestrian can see the headlights of the car even from a distance of a few kilometers, but the driver will notice it only when he notices the silhouette of a man within the range of the car’s lights.
  3. In the dark, without reflective elements, we are visible in the passing lights at a distance of only 20-30 meters. If the driver is driving at 90 km / h, he will travel 25 meters of road in 1 second and there is no chance of any reaction when he notices a pedestrian in his path.
  4. However, if the pedestrian is equipped with a reflective element reflecting the lights of the car, the driver will notice it already from a distance of 130 -150 meters, which is about 5-10 times faster! It can save a living life.
  5. The widespread use of reflective elements in various forms – hangers, reflective tapes, reflective vests, bright umbrellas etc. – will make the pedestrian’s chance of avoiding a setback in poor visibility considerably increase, even if he makes a mistake, eg he will move the wrong side of the road.
  6. Correctly worn reflectors should be placed in such a place that they are in the field of car lights and are noticeable for drivers approaching from both directions (from the back and the front).

Attention!

Traffic law stipulates that a person moving along the road, after dusk, outside the built-up area, is obliged to use reflective elements in a manner visible to other road users.

No one needs to be convinced about this record, but it is worth bearing the “reflections”, even if the regulations do not require it, that is, best during the whole autumn, winter and early spring, both during the day and after dark. Not only outside the built-up area, but everywhere we move. This custom should apply to all pedestrians regardless of age and applicable law.

I want crossed pedestrian crossings near schools

Through the local councilor Kecks Gabriel and the public manager of the County Council, Sabot Josef, the UDMR insists that the City Hall should arrange the passage of pedestrians in front of each school unit in Ordeal.

The two held a press conference on Tudor Vladimir street in front of the Cassava Immure School, where a woman arrived last Thursday and took her child from school was hit on the pedestrian crossing. Together with Pot Abacus, president of the school’s parents’ association, politicians also presented the temporary solution they propose: the provision of flag boards and information boards for pedestrian crossings.

The local councilor, a teacher at Zachary Immure, showed that the school has submitted such requests to the City Hall as early as 2014 when the school was on Mikhail Eminence Street. Some have remained unanswered, the most recent promise a solution in a rather uncertain future.

“The sent addresses did not have any results. At the last of them, in November 2017, the City Hall replied that the request was examined in the Circulars Committee. It has determined that the pedestrian crossing will continue to be signaled in the same way, and the technical project on the traffic on the Levine street from the new bridge over Crisis Pederast will be regulated and its situation “, Kecks said.

Insisting that because of fatigue and agitation, drivers, parents, and children may be unaware of the passage, Sabot believes that the cost of a low-cost passage at the price of people’s safety cannot be balanced. Up to an acceptable solution on the part of the municipality, the parents of the students at the Zachary School have put into practice a pilot project: at the headlights of the pedestrian crossing, on the lighting pillars, they placed flags with reflective tapes to attract the attention of the drivers. The mechanism is simple, the pedestrians take the flag, raise it to make it visible to the drivers, and leave it on the pillar across the road, explains Pot Abacus.

He pointed out that the parents’ organization had begun to collect signatures for the installation of crossed-out passages or buttonholes at all school institutions in Ordeal.

Such solutions are already operational at the Art High School, Photofit Park, Lucian Blag High School or Dacha Gymnasium. Such an alienation was also mounted on the crossing of pedestrians near the Ceausescu school but, in time, deteriorated, as did the municipality’s interest in the safety of small pedestrians. They are best dressed in reflective vests or with reflective materials.

City Hall: We’ll analyze

On behalf of the City Hall, Deputy Mayor Berta Florin, the coordinator of the Technical Department, commented that “if we meet all the requests for pedestrian crossings, they will all be elevated”. He acknowledges that the City Hall rejected the request of the Zachary School last year to disrupt the passage from Tudor Vladimir, arguing that the street is crowded and the running speed is low. As proof of the care of the City Hall for pedestrians, Berta said that no more than last week was the request of the local councilor Pesto Halma to derive zebras in the Bighorn Episcopate, because it was justified.

“And as a result of our interest in pedestrian safety, 2017 was the first year we had no fatal accidents on pedestrian crossings,” the deputy mayor insists.

PORD handles walking vests and reflective gadgets

As part of the “Glassblowing w Mickie” campaign, police officers and PORD employees will hand out reflective vests and gadgets in several Pomeranian cities. The project will also come to Kart.

“Glassblowing w Mickie” is an action organized by the Pomeranian Road Traffic Center, aimed at raising road safety On Wednesday, February 6, vests and reflectors will be handed out in Kart.

– We want to encourage all pedestrians, both adults and children, to wear reflective materials even in built-up areas. Even a small reflection will allow the driver to notice the pedestrian earlier. It can save a life! – says Wizardry Wilkins, deputy marshal of the Pomeranian province.

In addition, the reflectors will also receive pedestrians from Gdansk, Spot, Goiania, Rumba, and Reba.

– We will give off reflections in the morning and evening at selected pedestrian crossings. Road policemen will also participate in the action, who will provide pedestrians with valuable information on road safety – invites Roman Noway, director of the Pomeranian Traffic Center. There are 500 reflective tapes and vests to distribute.
