The emergency service 112 of Andalusia has published a series of tips focused on self-protection and respect for road safety rules to avoid, as far as possible, incidents in the “back to school”. Tomorrow, Monday, September 10, classes begin in the province of Jaen and will return to be habitual the journeys by car, bus or walking from the homes of schoolchildren to the educational centers. In the case of any emergency, you must call 112.
If you go by car
If the journey is made by car, it is necessary to avoid parking in double rows and in non-authorized places such as garage doors as they can cause dangerous situations for other drivers and pedestrians. If we do not park well, we can block several lanes and even increase the risk for the minors since, to get to the car they will have to avoid badly parked cars. Also, due to their height, they can suffer an accident with a car that is maneuvering and not aware of their presence.
It is necessary to take child restraint chairs approved in the rear seats to transport children. They must be appropriate to the child’s age and weight. Although the trip to school is short, they always have to go in their special seat with the seatbelt. If the child is less than 1.35, he will always have to go back and can only go forward if he is over 18 or over 135 centimeters tall. In addition, it will be the person who drives the person in charge of placing the child correctly in his chair, without the backpack and fastening the belt. It is recommended not to go back when there are children in the vicinity and who are not on the other side of the road as they would be forced to cross the road.

It is also necessary to signal the maneuvers and be aware of the rest of the users circulating with caution. It is also recommended to make the tour in advance to warn the minor of the most dangerous points.
On the other hand, children under seven cannot travel by motorcycle and when that age is exceeded, they must go with parents, guardians or an authorized adult. They always have to go with an approved helmet to their size.
Tips for pedestrians
If you are walking, an adult must teach the child the basic rules of road safety education: cross the pedestrian crossings or with a green light, look at both sides of the street (first left, then right and last, again, left) to check that no car is coming. In the event that there is no sidewalk, you should walk along the edge of the road and, if possible, use elements that allow the child to be seen quickly as, for example, reflective vests.
Schoolchildren should walk, not running, jumping or playing near the roadway to avoid accidents with what they most likely will be on the side of the shoulder closest to the wall, away from curbs and with attention to the exits and entrances of parking and garages. In addition, it is recommended not to walk between parked cars to avoid collisions.
