Do you have reflective elements?

Pedestrian is the least protected participant of road traffic and they are often the victim of tragic road accidents.

When bad conditions prevail on the road, and the pedestrian is not equipped with reflective vests and is wearing dark clothes, the driver notices him only when he is within reach of his light. It is very often too late and even the immediate reaction of the driver will not save his life.

Pedestrian crossings usually occur in the evening hours, from September to December, when the visibility of a person moving along the road is significantly reduced.

After dark, a driver driving with low beam light on can see a pedestrian from a distance of 20-30 meters from the car bonnet. However, if it travels at a speed exceeding 80-90 km / h, most often there is no chance of avoiding the deduction, because it moves at a speed of about 25 meters per second – explains press spokesman of the police. – When the pedestrian is equipped with any reflective material that reflects the light of the car, the driver will see it from a distance of 130-150 meters, which are about 5 times faster! The conclusion is obvious: such  small reflective fabric sewn-on our clothes, which can save our lives or the lives of our loved ones.

Reflective vests are required to be worn by all, regardless of age, who move around outside the built-up area after dark. The obligation to wear a reflective vest is exempt pedestrians moving on the road intended only for pedestrians or on the sidewalk, as well as in the area of residence, where pedestrian takes precedence over the vehicle.

Police officers from the Municipal Police Station, constantly visits schools and kindergartens, giving the youngest children reflective vests and realizing how important it is to wear them for life and health. In addition to passing the vests, the police teach the youngest rules of safe movement on the road, especially after dark – he adds.
