These tips can prevent an accident when it rains

With the arrival of the first downpours, the number of accidents on the road increases and many of them could be avoided just by taking some care that allows a better reaction with the wet streets.

The same Traffic Police in safety vest confirms this situation and assures that it is normal, because of the confluence of the water of the first rains with the oil and fuel accumulated in the roads during the whole summer, that generate a “soap film” in the asphalt capable of provoking Skidding in both cars and motorcycles.

“They are shocks that we call without grace, the typical kisses between bumpers, as they are commonly known.

Unfortunately, most people refuse to use the reconcile option, which allows clearing the road much earlier. We ask you to use this alternative. In the first quarter of the year we attended 23,815 accidents, which means that we attended an accident every 5 minutes and a half, “said Mario Calderon in reflective jacket, director of the Transit Police.

But, to avoid these situations, the following tips can be taken into account, in order to reduce that number of accidents:

– Check that the air conditioning and the vehicle’s brushes are in good condition, to avoid fogging and lack of rain visibility.

– Check that all the lights work properly allows showing under rain and with little visibility what the front, rear and side vehicles are doing, whether it is braking or trying to change lanes.

Due to the rains, accidents are increasing.

– In the case of motorcyclists and cyclists, the theme of lights is also important, but they must also wear light reflective clothing and a light on, 24 hours a day, to become more visible.

– Caution when passing through manhole covers or the railway line, as these metals become slippery on contact with water, so do the famous “dead” or speed reducers, in the form of asphalt mounds or metallic.

– Keeping the distance instead of reducing it, compared to other vehicles is, then, a recommendation that is not too much.

– In wet road conditions, the vehicle takes longer to brake, it moves for more space before stopping, so that it is more than evident the need to reduce speed when it rains.
