Road safety: new measures to cut down road deaths

Avignon Friday brings an interdepartmental committee on road safety (IRB), the first in four years, to try to end the increased mortality on French roads.

Avignon meeting this Friday, Oct. 2 an interdepartmental committee on road safety (IRB), the first in four years, to adopt a new plan of action to stem the rise in mortality on French roads, up 4.6% since the beginning of the year. In the viewfinder: two-wheelers, with the establishment of a technical visit (only at the time of sale for the moment). This measure is already cringe bikers, explaining that they pamper their motorcycles. It targets more scooters in poor condition or have been derided, so that teens kill themselves on real wheelchairs bombs.

Equipment should also be imposed. For now, only the helmet is mandatory. To this should be added the jacket with reflective tape, back protector and gloves.
No generalization of the limitation to 80 km / h on national

For motorists, the government could encourage the installation of black boxes. This concerns, for example, acceleration and braking to determine if they are sudden, speed cornering. These data would not be used for law enforcement but for insurers to know who is really responsible in an accident.

The French are mostly unfavorable to it.
Employees will have to assume their mistakes

A measure choosy seems to be: the late-pass rights for PV in companies. Currently, in many cases, employees flashed for speeding with a vehicle registered in the name of society pay their PV, but do not see withdraw from points on their license. Often, their employer does not communicate their names to the authorities.

A practice that the Ministry of Interior wants to see disappear. This would be for the company to keep a log book of the vehicle where, every day, every driver would be clearly identified. And the safety equipment like reflective vest and helmet will be well check. In case of non compliance with this rule, the company écoperait a heavy fine. This would limit the differences. You should know that 10-15% of the radar flashes concern company vehicles.
