People in Burgos asking for more measures on road safety

Burgos, November 22 (EFE) .- A few hundred people gathered today in the N-1, at kilometer, up to Santa Olalla de Bureau (Burgos), where on November 13 killed two people in a pileup, calling for the release of the toll of the AP-1 parallel with the street.

Neighboring localities of the route of the national road today have joined other refugees in their private cars and three buses, one from Burgos capital and two of Briviesca (Burgos).

Participants in the protest, organized by the National Platform 1 were dressed in dark clothes and reflective garment, in mourning, many of them carried crosses, while a PA repeated the sound of traffic accidents and bells playing “dead”.

After cutting the road for five minutes, which were authorized by the Prefectures, the spokesman of the organizing platform, Rafael Solaguren has insisted on claiming that the security of the national road and improve the toll free highway, especially for trucks.

He recalled that most of the trucks using the road, despite the partial rebate toll that began a few months ago.

In his opinion, the density of trucks, which “has always been very high”, is increasing as the economic situation improves, so the risks for circulating on the section of National 1 in Burgos have increased and Miranda de Ebro, the only one of this route is not split.

He insisted that without reflective clothing, the last two fatal accidents on this stretch of road with trucks have been involved.

It has also raised the need to improve the security of the country, some of them simple to perform and inexpensive.

He assured that in this segment remains at the same level crossings where vehicles have to stop on the road to turn left, in addition to lack of signage speed limit on some “obvious risk points”.

Solaguren said that the platform will convene concentrations whenever any accident fatalities occur on this road. EFE
