Reflective material help motorcyclists see and be seen

Spring is in the air and motorcyclists are now bringing out their bikes after a long winter, however, spring can be a dangerous time to ride.

“People aren’t paying attention to them quite yet. Especially in the early spring,” said Jeff, the Parts Manager at Harley Davidson. “This time of the year is a super dangerous time to be riding on the road with two wheels, so we like to keep everybody safe. It is all about safety.”

Harley Davidson is promoting a new campaign to keep bikers safe. They have a new line of light and reflective clothing that can help motorcyclists see and be seen.

The safety vest keeps you seen, especially during rainy or hazy conditions, if a light hits this, it’s obviously all reflective and lets people know they are on the road. He said the new types of LED lights are some of the best ways bikers can keep safe on the road.

The latest and brightest light includes headlamps, peripheral, and tail lamps, and rear turn signals. The general manager of Harley said these lights can be a big change for traditional riders, but it is worth the difference.

These improvements can help drivers be more aware of motorcyclists.

“You have to understand that people are on the road for not paying attention and if you wear reflective material and they see you, your odds of not getting into an accident are a lot better,” Jeff said.

Prepare properly for long trips by car

While some prefer the train or the plane to go on vacation, the majority of French people travel by car to reach their destination. However, a long journey cannot be improvised. Here are some tips to make your trip safe and enjoyable.

Prepare your vehicle, equipment, itinerary

A few days before departure, make sure your car is in perfect condition. Check the general condition of the vehicle: brakes, steering, headlights, light, battery, windshield wipers. Also check the condition, wear and pressure of the tires, especially the spare wheel. Check the oil levels, brake and cooling fluids, windshield washer.

As a reminder, you must have several equipment on board including: a breathalyzer, a pre-signaling triangle, a safety vest. Remember that you will spend long hours in your car. Remember to bring sunglasses and soft drinks without alcohol in the summer, blankets and special equipment (chains, snow tires, anti-frost bomb…) in the winter.

It is advisable to charge your vehicle the day before departure, as far as possible. No object should occupy the back deck. In addition, if you use roof racks, a roof box, a bike rack or a trailer, make sure that you follow the rules in force for loading.

Finally, before setting off on the road, plan your route with the fastest route. Find out about traffic and weather conditions along the way. Make sure your GPS is working properly and possibly equip a road map.

Take the road rested and take regular breaks

It is essential to leave in shape. Avoid leaving after a long day of work, opt for an early start. You are leaving for a long journey, think about putting on an outfit in which you feel comfortable to drive. On the way, take a break as soon as you need it, at least every two hours. Do not fight drowsiness. If you have children, plan activities to distract them all the way.

On the road, pay attention to the speed limits. Also remember not to overheat the cabin and ventilate it regularly. You should know that driving 10km/h less on the highway can save 3 to 5 liters of fuel over 500km. Another trick to reduce fuel consumption: prefer roof boxes to galleries and do not forget to disassemble after use. Indeed, these causes an over consumption of 10 to 20%.

A well prepared trip will save you a lot of surprises. Although the holiday season is eagerly awaited, the preparation of the trip is still necessary.

The high-visibility vest is a hazard prediction tool

The French start-up CAD.42 is developing a tool for predicting danger and productivity management for construction sites. The solution, which collects position data from equipment and personnel, communicates in real time connected with PPE that warns of the imminence of a risky situation. And the high-visibility vest is a hazard prediction tool.

One in ten workers is injured every year in France. Based on this observation, the founders of the CAD.42 start-up have created a predictive hazard calculation system dedicated to construction sites, quarries and mines as well as the world of industry and energy. Jean-Philippe Panged, the co-founder and president of the entity created at the end of 2016, say that it amounts to “equipping the companions and the tools of very precise position sensors”. The data that are collected by these sensors are sent to the cloud and processed in real time to allow the detection of risk situations instantly.

A video shows the example of a worker working under a crane: “The smart safety vest detects the entry of the companion into the cone of danger, it triggers a warning light and sound”. In fact, the vest starts to sound and LEDs integrated into the reflective tapes produce flashes in order to attract the attention of the crane operator and the wearer of the connected EPI. The situation can also be viewed live on the digital model of the site manager. By positioning each element equipped with a beacon to within 30cm, it is possible to avoid machine-pedestrian collisions, to secure isolated workers and to dynamically mark risk zones in the case of simultaneous interventions.

The safety of pedestrians in traffic

Welcome to Czech said. Today we have a current topic for you – the safety of pedestrians in traffic.

Reflective clothing – reflective clothing becomes mandatory in certain situations for pedestrians in the Czech Republic. A pedestrian – codec must then wear safety vest – reflective vest, a reflective stripe – reflective tape or other reflective elements – reflective elements on clothes.

In addition, that applies in the dark, rain, or fog on streets, which have neither sidewalk – footpath nor lighting. Reflective clothing is made of a material that reflects light, the light that comes from a headlight, that is, a reflector. The reflection significantly increases the visibility of the pedestrian, and therefore motorists – overlook, do not so easily overlook it.

Reflecting means reverberating, a reflection is okras. In philosophy the reflection reflexes means the perception of one’s own mental activity, sometimes it is used as a synonym for reflection – thinking and reflection – reasoning. A consideration is called in Czech treatise or reflexes.

To reflect on something – reflect on something means to be interested in something to apply for something. Next time we talk about the reflective material.

The leader almost entered the children on the safety belts

The moment the preschooler introduced the pupils to the pedestrian crossing, a Volkswagen Golf car entered the safety belts. The 68-year-old driver did not stop and did not give way. She drove her car very close to kindergarten children who were stopped by the babysitter. The police arrested the woman’s driving license. For causing a danger on the lanes, he will answer the court.

Moments of horror at a pedestrian crossing

A group of preschoolers with babysitters approached the pedestrian crossing. The children were holding hands and wearing reflective vests.

When preschoolers were almost in the middle of the road, VW Golf passed through the belts. The driver did not stop and gave way to pedestrians.

The local police officers almost immediately received a recording from the scene of the incident. The duty officer gave the patrols a command to find the vehicle.

The police were looking for the perpetrator only a few minutes

After a dozen or so minutes, one of the partial reported to the officer on duty that he stopped the vehicle resembling the one on the film. As it turned out, a 68-year-old resident of the Bolesławiec poviat managed Volkswagen. The woman confirmed that she was the one who directed the car visible on the recording.

The police in safety vest received the driver’s license. The officers also made an application to the court to punish the 68-year-old.

The police in reflective vest check the accident

Snowfall and low temperatures have made the conditions on many roads of our city and podia extremely treacherous and you should drive more carefully, slower and more sensible. Since Friday, we recorded 14 road incidents, including 1 accident. That is why we appeal to those who are driving for careful driving. We also ask the pedestrians to remember about wearing reflective clothing – reminds Sergeant Anna from the Rybnik police.

Unfortunately, despite numerous actions and appeals of Rybnik police officers, we have noticed several road incidents since Friday. Fortunately, most of them were only so-called collisions. Unfortunately, there was also an accident.

The accident happened tonight, around 4.00 on Borski Street in Rybnik. From the preliminary findings of the police officers of the Rybnik road traffic department, it appears that Opel driver – 28-year-old Rybnik resident – driving towards Gory, did not adjust the speed to road conditions, lost control of the vehicle and hit a parked BMW car. The police in safety vest checked the sobriety of the driver. The result of the test on the breathalyzer showed in his body nearly 2 miles of alcohol. While checking in police bases, it turned out that the 28-year-old did not have the right to drive. The exact circumstances of the accident will be explained in the pre-trial proceedings conducted by Rybnik uniformed.

Rybnik Police reminds Low temperature and snowfall caused a significant deterioration of conditions for driving a car. The roads became slippery. Under such conditions, a moment of inattention is enough to lose control of the vehicle and end the ride in the ditch. Rybnik police officers appeal for great caution and imagination. Drivers in such conditions should keep longer distances between moving vehicles and avoid sudden braking. Above all, take your foot off the gas to safely reach the destination.

Pedestrians should also be especially careful. Entering the road directly before a moving vehicle, they risk a lot. On a slippery surface, the braking distance is significantly longer. Every pedestrian and cyclist should also remember about their safety and take care to be visible. A reflective vest, key chain, headband, or even a flashlight can save your life.

Safety vest join forces with the world of fashion

Fashion designers are convincing that it saves lives, and our reporter checks it in practice. The reflective vest is the hero of the clip made by road builders. The action “A2 that it is safe to bet on reflections!” is to convince young people that although the vests are not too stylish, it is worth to wear them, because they improve safety. The TVN24 reporter checked how much night wear this piece of clothing. A pedestrian with a reflection is visible from almost 100 meters, while a man in a black jacket appears in front of the mask unexpectedly, several meters in front of the vehicle. In this situation, there is no time to react.

How important is visibility on the road, also convinces Josef, head of the Road Traffic Department of the Municipal Police. Appropriate visibility is above all a guarantee of safety. Then when we are visible, the driver can react and avoid an accident. Safe distance is a standard range of traffic lights, or 150 m. This distance is enough to control the vehicle, but only if we are visible.

The safety vest has the same cut for years, but it is still attractive because it has saved people’s lives for years. This is what we intend to promote – says Sophia. Fashion people, the founder of the Risk brand, will help in this. The result of cooperation is a short film with vests in the main role. – We want to persuade most people to have such vests – says Olin in the video. For the promotion of hi vis vests, the well-known fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld was once invited. “It’s yellow, it’s ugly, and it does not suit anything, but it saves lives,” he argued in the campaign. So you can say that road builders follow fashion.

What is worth to keep in the car for his safety

What should be in the car varies from country to country. What are the Polish recipes? We systematize knowledge and suggest what else is worth having in your car for comfort and safety, like the safety equipments or triangles.

What must be in the car?

In accordance with the provisions of Polish law, a fire extinguisher and a warning triangle must be present in the car. It is worth noting that the extinguisher must be in an easily accessible place, so it should not be in the trunk, but rather, under the driver’s seat. For lack of easy access to a fire extinguisher, we are threatened with a fine. The extinguisher should be inspected at least once a year and its weight must not be less than 1 kg. In addition to the fire extinguisher, a warning triangle with a valid approval mark should be placed in the car. The triangle must also be marked with the vehicle during towing. The lack of these two basic appliances may result in a mandate or a negative result of a technical review.

Is a first aid kit obligatory?

In Poland, there is no obligation to have a first aid kit in a car, but there is already a duty to help an accident or injured person. Therefore, a first aid kit and safety vest should be in every car, regardless of the requirements of the legislator. According to the Act, however, in some cases, a first-aid kit is an obligatory element of equipment, and this applies to buses, taxis, trucks transporting people and driving vehicles. When choosing a first aid kit, you should consult a pharmacist, because the cheapest models do not always have the right amount of medicine.

What else is useful in the car?

Very useful equipment can be a reflective vest. It is small, and will make more visible to other drivers in the event of a fault or stopping on the road. In the car, it is also worth having a simple set of tools, thanks to which we will repair minor defects that may happen on the road or make it easier for us to change the wheel. Being aware of having a CB radio or video projector can also have a positive effect on our driving comfort.

Reflective vest protect the cyclists safe

Policemen in safety vest with the participation of the Head of the Venice Commune, members of the Association for Children, Youth and Their Families, the Educational Institution Team in Wanaka “PRZYSTANEK WINNICA”, Volunteer Fire Brigades and WOPR employees started the next cycling season. As part of the “MY BICYCLE – MY LIFE” activities, the uniforms and inhabitants of the Wanaka commune took part in the bike rally, 12 April.

It is well known that the form of learning through play is best remembered by the youngest. Participants of the project could see for themselves, and many attractions awaited them. We started with a short theory lesson. The police officers paid attention to the need to use reflective material and to comply with the provisions of the two-wheeler. They discussed the most common offenses committed by unprotected road users, gave tips on how to proceed to be safe on the road. The mayor also appealed for reason and prudence. After the lecture, the police officers in the Road Traffic Department checked the possession of cycling cards and the technical condition of two-wheelers. Lacks in the equipment has been completed. The officers handed bicycle lamps, bells, vests, and reflective hats. Then the laughing peloton traveled about 10 km long, which led from Wanaka, through Gnat. There were more attractions waiting for the participants there, including prepared by the members of the TSO a common bonfire.

The meeting was enriched with classes in first aid. Paweł Mieczkowski provided advice and tips from Putsch WOPR and students from the Schools. The topics were, among others proceedings in case of loss consciousness, epilepsy, hemorrhage, fractures of limbs / wounds due to falling from a bicycle. The children eagerly took part in the classes, had many questions, and shared insights.

We hope that joint promotion and building the right relationship on the line “driving another vehicle – pedestrian – cyclist” will contribute to the increase of road safety, and the knowledge and skills acquired will apply in practice.

Police action to prevent accidents involving pedestrians

Over the coming week, road police officers in reflective vest across the country will step up their actions to prevent road accidents involving pedestrians! The traffic police will act on a national level between 6 and 12 November, under the coordination of the Romanian Police Road Directorate, to save lives and to prevent road events involving pedestrians.

Activities are aimed primarily at combating pedestrian traffic violations. Particular attention will be paid to roadside potential areas as well as to road traffic occurrences caused by these deviations.

Romanian police in safety vest recommend pedestrians:

– To engage in crossing the public road only through specially arranged places (on the pedestrian crossing) and in the green color of the electric traffic light, where there is

– To ensure, even when in the pedestrian crossing, that the crossing can be safely (the vehicles are stopped before pedestrian marking, especially when the road has several lanes on the way)

– Never run across the pedestrian marker regardless of the emergency at any given time

– Not to move on the roadside, where there is no sidewalk or vestibule (predominantly in the countryside), move on the left side of the road as close as possible to the edge of the road

– In bad weather or dark, wear open-color clothing and / or reflective tapes to be visible

– Not to cross the front or rear of the public transport when they are stopped at the station

– Children should not be allowed to cross themselves – they are unpredictable and cannot appreciate distances and speeds correctly. Do not forget!

– Children imitate the road behavior of adults.

Vehicle drivers must reduce travel speed and travel with great care.
