Dances, flags and a lost reflective vest

On June 2, the first party of this year in the Park was organized by the Ochoa District Office and the Culture Department. The honor of the host was made by our deputy mayor, Mr. Gregory Winsock, who bravely embraced what some of the residents were doing.

The fun began at 18 and then the majority were children who warmed up to dance their parents. Later, with time, the fun created and the elders began to dance with greater daring. There were also small interludes in which residents could hear information that Chock together with the Foundation for Social Assistance “EVA” runs a public collection called “Ochoa”.

I lost my reflective safety vest

After such announcements, residents and participants of the party gave me generous gift of food donations for the purchase of flags. Thank you for everything. About 21.30 I went to my bicycle clipped to the stage (back) and unfortunately I noticed that someone did not like my reflective vest hanging (entangled) on the steering wheel and decided to adopt it from me. I hope that it will serve this, and if it was not and it was just a malicious punishment for an article. I think it was a primitive behavior. It is unfortunate that the spell breaks so quickly. So I have to buy a new reflective clothing.

The next dance in the park on June 9 and June 23.

Reflective clothing keeps cyclists safer on road

The Gymnasium prepares its pupils for the dark season with the reflective vest. At four stations, the sixth graders learn the most important things about safety on bicycles.

Saddle wrong, brakes broken, air out: The prepared bike at the station of Peter Keeners of the General German Bicycle Club (ADFC) looks bad. The light is not, “Someone has demolished my bike,” complains Keeners at the students at his station. The seven girls and boys of the sixth grade eagerly seek out the mistakes, immediately put their hands on each other, and give each other tips. Not ten minutes later, everything is running, the plug on the dynamo was pressed again and the air in the front wheel pumped up again. “Done, you can go home,” confirms Keeners the successful repair.

At this and three other stations, the children of the Gymnasium learn all the basics for a safe ride on a bicycle. Five sixth grades are allowed to explore the four stations in the classroom every hour. The “Action Light” was initiated by the city in cooperation with the Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Friendly Cities (AGFS) and the ADFC. Alexander from the P3 Agency for Communication and Mobility, who has been accompanying the Light action for several years as a presenter, welcomes the students’ knowledge as a greeting. How many brakes must a bicycle have in this country? Which reflective clothing is required, which are not? Manfred Weygand, bicycle representative: “We want the kids to ride more bikes, but for sure!”

Security is top priority for Police Chief Commissioner Herbert Kinder. “Eight out of ten wheel accidents end with a head injury,” says Kinder. In addition to the bicycle helmet, his station also deals with reflectors and the correct lighting. “Accidents always happen when drivers cannot recognize you.” The pedals, the cat’s eyes on the pedals, are the only way for others to recognize a cyclist as such from behind. “Drive carefully and take care of yourself!” lends Kinder the group to the next station. Angelika and Manfred Weygand show how reflective clothing works.

The children can choose from a wide range of protective vests, warning stripes, and especially reflective bicycle helmets and illuminate each other in turn. Everyone is enthusiastic about the effect of the radiant clothes. At the last station, the black box, it is necessary to spy on a search image cyclists with and without light and write down its result. Under the correct answers, three winners will be drawn who will receive a safety pack with reflective vest and reflective band. However, nobody goes out of their way: there is a reflective plush pendant for everyone.

To make children more visible in the dark through safety vests

The days are getting shorter again; it is the time of the year when safety vests are increasingly used again. In addition, rightly so: The eye-catching items of clothing help to prevent accidents and to protect your children from the dangers of road traffic.

Especially in the dark season, it is advisable to equip children in traffic with safety vests. Therefore, other road users much more likely perceive them.

This is what the ideal safety vest for children looks like

Safety vests are made of a breathable and lightweight material. They are easy to pull over the normal jacket and do not hinder. It is best if they are closable with a Velcro fastener: So the vest is quickly put on, fastened, and stripped off again. Characteristic is the reflector strip, which should be at least one centimeter wide and once around the reflective vest should be around: Only this way it is ensured that the child is clearly visible from all sides.

The color of the vest provides extra security. If you buy a model in a fluorescent signal color, such as yellow or pink, your child will not be overlooked even in daylight. The difficulty, especially in the winter months, lies in the fact that most garments are sold like warm jackets in rather muted colors. In them, a child is much worse to recognize than in a color that does not blur with the hazy background on the winter road.

Color and reflectors make the difference in safety vests

If the children have to leave the house and go to school in the morning, it is still dark outside in the fall, winter, and early spring. Whether they are on foot or by bicycle, they are not easy to spot for motorists, and in the morning rush hour traffic on the streets are still a bit more dangerous than usual. Buy reflective vests with reflectors for your kids, they are in the light the headlights are easy to see from far away, and the drivers drive much slower and more cautiously.

You can also buy one for yourself: For example, if you bring your child to kindergarten by bike in the morning, you will also be more easily recognizable by motorists. If you find the normal vests that you find in trading too boring and not very individual, you can also order special designs. Children also like to put on a vest with their name. If you find that the reflective areas are not sufficient, you can buy additional reflective strips and fix them on the vest. How your child safely gets through the traffic!

The police in reflective vest check the accident

Snowfall and low temperatures have made the conditions on many roads of our city and podia extremely treacherous and you should drive more carefully, slower and more sensible. Since Friday, we recorded 14 road incidents, including 1 accident. That is why we appeal to those who are driving for careful driving. We also ask the pedestrians to remember about wearing reflective clothing – reminds Sergeant Anna from the Rybnik police.

Unfortunately, despite numerous actions and appeals of Rybnik police officers, we have noticed several road incidents since Friday. Fortunately, most of them were only so-called collisions. Unfortunately, there was also an accident.

The accident happened tonight, around 4.00 on Borski Street in Rybnik. From the preliminary findings of the police officers of the Rybnik road traffic department, it appears that Opel driver – 28-year-old Rybnik resident – driving towards Gory, did not adjust the speed to road conditions, lost control of the vehicle and hit a parked BMW car. The police in safety vest checked the sobriety of the driver. The result of the test on the breathalyzer showed in his body nearly 2 miles of alcohol. While checking in police bases, it turned out that the 28-year-old did not have the right to drive. The exact circumstances of the accident will be explained in the pre-trial proceedings conducted by Rybnik uniformed.

Rybnik Police reminds Low temperature and snowfall caused a significant deterioration of conditions for driving a car. The roads became slippery. Under such conditions, a moment of inattention is enough to lose control of the vehicle and end the ride in the ditch. Rybnik police officers appeal for great caution and imagination. Drivers in such conditions should keep longer distances between moving vehicles and avoid sudden braking. Above all, take your foot off the gas to safely reach the destination.

Pedestrians should also be especially careful. Entering the road directly before a moving vehicle, they risk a lot. On a slippery surface, the braking distance is significantly longer. Every pedestrian and cyclist should also remember about their safety and take care to be visible. A reflective vest, key chain, headband, or even a flashlight can save your life.

Safety vest join forces with the world of fashion

Fashion designers are convincing that it saves lives, and our reporter checks it in practice. The reflective vest is the hero of the clip made by road builders. The action “A2 that it is safe to bet on reflections!” is to convince young people that although the vests are not too stylish, it is worth to wear them, because they improve safety. The TVN24 reporter checked how much night wear this piece of clothing. A pedestrian with a reflection is visible from almost 100 meters, while a man in a black jacket appears in front of the mask unexpectedly, several meters in front of the vehicle. In this situation, there is no time to react.

How important is visibility on the road, also convinces Josef, head of the Road Traffic Department of the Municipal Police. Appropriate visibility is above all a guarantee of safety. Then when we are visible, the driver can react and avoid an accident. Safe distance is a standard range of traffic lights, or 150 m. This distance is enough to control the vehicle, but only if we are visible.

The safety vest has the same cut for years, but it is still attractive because it has saved people’s lives for years. This is what we intend to promote – says Sophia. Fashion people, the founder of the Risk brand, will help in this. The result of cooperation is a short film with vests in the main role. – We want to persuade most people to have such vests – says Olin in the video. For the promotion of hi vis vests, the well-known fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld was once invited. “It’s yellow, it’s ugly, and it does not suit anything, but it saves lives,” he argued in the campaign. So you can say that road builders follow fashion.

What is worth to keep in the car for his safety

What should be in the car varies from country to country. What are the Polish recipes? We systematize knowledge and suggest what else is worth having in your car for comfort and safety, like the safety equipments or triangles.

What must be in the car?

In accordance with the provisions of Polish law, a fire extinguisher and a warning triangle must be present in the car. It is worth noting that the extinguisher must be in an easily accessible place, so it should not be in the trunk, but rather, under the driver’s seat. For lack of easy access to a fire extinguisher, we are threatened with a fine. The extinguisher should be inspected at least once a year and its weight must not be less than 1 kg. In addition to the fire extinguisher, a warning triangle with a valid approval mark should be placed in the car. The triangle must also be marked with the vehicle during towing. The lack of these two basic appliances may result in a mandate or a negative result of a technical review.

Is a first aid kit obligatory?

In Poland, there is no obligation to have a first aid kit in a car, but there is already a duty to help an accident or injured person. Therefore, a first aid kit and safety vest should be in every car, regardless of the requirements of the legislator. According to the Act, however, in some cases, a first-aid kit is an obligatory element of equipment, and this applies to buses, taxis, trucks transporting people and driving vehicles. When choosing a first aid kit, you should consult a pharmacist, because the cheapest models do not always have the right amount of medicine.

What else is useful in the car?

Very useful equipment can be a reflective vest. It is small, and will make more visible to other drivers in the event of a fault or stopping on the road. In the car, it is also worth having a simple set of tools, thanks to which we will repair minor defects that may happen on the road or make it easier for us to change the wheel. Being aware of having a CB radio or video projector can also have a positive effect on our driving comfort.

First aid kit in the car will be obligatory

The Ministry of Infrastructure reviews drivers’ regulations and plans to change them. One of them is to introduce the necessity of carrying a first aid kit in a car. The resort justifies that its lack on the list of mandatory car equipment is in conflict with the regulations that force drivers to help victims of accidents.

Currently, we must only have a fire extinguisher and a triangle in every car registered in Poland. Meanwhile, in many European countries on this list there is also a reflective vest, which must be used in the event of immobilization of the car on the road and first aid kit – necessary to provide first aid. In many countries, law already requires a vest and first aid kit.

The Ministry of Infrastructure, as part of activities to reduce the number of victims on Polish roads, wants to soon introduce the obligation to carry a first-aid kit in each car. Work on appropriate changes in law is already under way. Regulations must specify not only the penalty for the lack of a first aid kit, also to calculate its content in detail. The cost of the first aid kit will certainly not be high, because bandages, patches, and tourniquets are not extremely expensive and usually everyone has them in their home medicine cabinet.

Recall that now the penalties threaten to lack in the car properly marked fire extinguisher and a warning reflective triangle (with the approval mark). Remember that the extinguisher is better to carry in an easily accessible place in the cabin, and not in the trunk under a stack of packages. The fire extinguisher should be easily accessible.

Police action to prevent accidents involving pedestrians

Over the coming week, road police officers in reflective vest across the country will step up their actions to prevent road accidents involving pedestrians! The traffic police will act on a national level between 6 and 12 November, under the coordination of the Romanian Police Road Directorate, to save lives and to prevent road events involving pedestrians.

Activities are aimed primarily at combating pedestrian traffic violations. Particular attention will be paid to roadside potential areas as well as to road traffic occurrences caused by these deviations.

Romanian police in safety vest recommend pedestrians:

– To engage in crossing the public road only through specially arranged places (on the pedestrian crossing) and in the green color of the electric traffic light, where there is

– To ensure, even when in the pedestrian crossing, that the crossing can be safely (the vehicles are stopped before pedestrian marking, especially when the road has several lanes on the way)

– Never run across the pedestrian marker regardless of the emergency at any given time

– Not to move on the roadside, where there is no sidewalk or vestibule (predominantly in the countryside), move on the left side of the road as close as possible to the edge of the road

– In bad weather or dark, wear open-color clothing and / or reflective tapes to be visible

– Not to cross the front or rear of the public transport when they are stopped at the station

– Children should not be allowed to cross themselves – they are unpredictable and cannot appreciate distances and speeds correctly. Do not forget!

– Children imitate the road behavior of adults.

Vehicle drivers must reduce travel speed and travel with great care.

Keep reflective vest in snow days

Obligatory cleaning of cars from ice and snow, pedestrians with reflective vest and the possibility to ride a cyclist even on a full line – these are the changes that the amendment to the Road Traffic Act wants to bring. We have released some planned rules for cyclists, said MF DNES chief BESIP Martin.

What sanctions do pedestrians do when they do not have reflective material, and drivers in the case of an unclean car from snow and ice?

In the case of non-cleaned vehicles, there is a penalty of up to two thousand crowns in place, in the case of administrative proceedings up to CZK 2,500. As far as the pedestrian duty is concerned, there will also be sanctions there, but there is mainly an accident investigation on steps. That makes it easier for decision-makers to make decisions.

Must it be a duty to clear snow and ice from a car strictly defined in the law, if, according to our debaters, it can be penalized for this day? Is not it unnecessary denial of drivers?

I read the posts in the discussion under the article and I think that one who cleans the car and does not have a problem with it must say that it is nonsense because we are introducing a thing that is clear. However, just such a person does not limit the amendment. And the person who does not do that should learn from it and take the best of it. This is not about doing something to anyone. It is the result of a work that is based on a practice where there has always been a discussion whether snow and ice on the car are all right or not.

Of course, it is said that the instrument is in the law, but the police have a big problem in enforcing it. If it is precisely defined what is to be done with the vehicle before the ride, such as scraping the windows to provide a good view of the vehicle, which is one of the most important elements of active safety, it is absolutely well-founded. It is very unpleasant to drive a vehicle in front of you in winter, which has a higher layer of snow on the roof and gradually drops off at higher speeds. And because there was a discussion about whether the driver is in the way of looking at the fragrant tree on the mirror or something else at the window, then I personally think that a strict definition will help what we all want, and that is to make the operation safer and keeping the road safety.

I would like to emphasize that all these are just considerations because it is not a law signed by the President, but a proposal in inter-departmental proceedings. Therefore, it is not a loose coin, and the other thing is whether it will finally come out in the law.

How can I be seen without a reflective vest

Walking in the darkness of the street without having a reflective vest is not safe today. Not only can you hit a car, but you could also get a fine. But what if you do not want to wear a reflective vest? Alternatives are reflex sprays that can be used for clothing, metal and animals.

In the dark, with reflective elements only

In February of this year, an amendment to the Road Traffic Act came into force, which many of you and especially those who enjoy taking evening strolls for the city, have surely registered. For pedestrians traveling at the side or on the edge of the road outside the village in low visibility (where there is no public lighting), they are required to wear a reflective vest.

Decreased visibility is not only darkness, but also darkness or fog. The purpose of the regulation is clear – to prevent the impending collision of a pedestrian with a passing car. Pedestrians who violate this regulation are subject to a fine of up to CZK 2,000. When the reflective elements are said to be, you will probably recall the neat, lustrous yellow or orange hi vis vest, which is an obligatory part of the first aid kit. Fortunately, the law does not require wearing it directly, but it is said to be sufficient for any visible retro reflective material – a reflector that reflects light.

You can buy a reflex tape, for example. It protects you against the fine, but because of its modest size, it does not face all the dangers of road traffic. A more sophisticated alternative is the ALBEDO100 Reflective Spray (available at the 4MS.cz e-shop), with which you can produce a reflective element almost everything. Various types of reflex sprays are available, which can be applied to different materials.

Classic are reflex sprays for textiles, which can be used for clothes, shoes or for a bag or backpack. Although waterproof, it can be washed without any problems in the machine. You can also get different templates for reflex sprays, which make the mandatory reflective material, transform into a stylish adornment.

ALBEDO100 also produces reflective sprays for metal, wood and plastic, suitable for example for bicycles, prams, helmets, but also for fences or winches. Color is resistant to sunlight, wind, and rain, but does not damage the surface. Those who are afraid of their pets at night would be able to use waterproof reflex sprays for animals that can be easily washed with shampoo.
