Reflective elements protect pedestrian life

Traffic policemen focused on the pedestrians in the early morning and evening hours during the Wednesday traffic safety event, whether they are sufficiently visible for the drivers.

According to the head of the Hradec Traffic Police Service, Karle Kati checked a total of 110 pedestrians, of which only eight did not have reflective tapes. “But it was in the illuminated sections,” he added, adding that one pedestrian had been handed over to the administrative proceedings.

“There are pedestrians who know about the obligation to have reflective elements, but they do not wear them when they do not have to. We have now given out 1100 reflective tapes, 150 bags, 20 reflective bikes for motorcyclists and 200 orange vests for the driver. Reflective vests can be used by cyclists and pedestrians. “said Charles Kati.

Police officers also stopped in Hradec one pedestrian who had earphones in his ears and did not respond to their call. “Earphones with loud music are a problem. The pedestrian does not hear the approaching car, he does not know what is happening in the neighborhood and is easy to become an accident victim, “says Charles Kati.

According to road safety experts, at night the driver will see pedestrians with a reflective element at a distance of two hundred meters. At a speed of 75km / h, the driver needs at least 1.5 seconds to be aware of the danger and to react. In that time, it will be 31 meters. And before he starts his own evasive maneuver, he will leave the pedestrian track more than 150 meters away. This requires a driver of about 200 meters, which is the distance a pedestrian can see a reflective element. It follows that a person moving in the dark in dark clothes does not give a very good chance to safely carry out the avoidance maneuver. Therefore, at present, not only cyclists need to be illuminated and marked at night, but also the responsibility to keep themselves in a low visibility and out of the village, pedestrians also have reflexive features.

Although pedestrians do not have reflective elements in the city, the police have appealed to everyone who went to Hradec on the sidewalk around Kassel’s sawmill to wear reflexive elements which made of reflective materials everywhere and to distribute them at once. For example, Napa Vaclav ova had a flashlight, but in her bag. She explained that she did not go to herself at night alone, but as a driver she recognized that pedestrians should be clearly visible in the dark.

“Autumn and winter, when the day is shorter and wilderness is getting worse, is extremely demanding for the driver’s attention. On a slippery surface, it will not stop as fast as dry roads. Pedestrians and cyclists should be aware of this and stick to the principle of being seen. “said police spokesman Hanna Miller.

Her words were added by the head of the Hradec Traffic Police: “Drivers must expect that weather conditions may change rapidly. Where they can safely pass through the ninety-one, they can be dangerous sixty. It can drizzle the water from the cars transporting the word fish. It will also make wet mud. “

Winter clothes from Craft will brighten and warm you up

Do you run every day to work and work, or do you have time for training in the evenings? To keep you out of the cold and to be seen from afar, Brilliant shine from Craft.

Running all year without a break is no honey. From this point of view, the winter period is critical, with the arrival of two enemy enemies – cold and dark. These two factors can completely decimate the joint forces of many runners. According to unofficial estimates, the number of winter sleepers climbs to seventy percent.

Craft, therefore, comes with a range of winter clothes for Brilliant that wants to help runners in these challenging conditions. Its first task is to provide adequate insulation and protection against wind and rain while securing your safety during running in the evening and night hours. In addition, it offers visually very good models, uses high light reflective tapes.

With eight hours of work, you do not have the chance to go both days in the winter. And if you leave the run-in until the time you arrive at work, the darkness will be even greater. And your portion of the training mileage is even more dangerous. An exemplary example of how well-traceable route changes overnight with the arrival of a night in a dangerous zone and you are just waiting for some of the cyclists to come down when they leave the end is the Brno cycle path along Strata.

With Brilliant attire, however, one can literally cry like a Christmas tree in the night, which can cause amused smiles on the one hand, but on the other hand, you are certain that you have made the most of your safety. Of course, reflective clothing does not replace an indispensable headlamp and a red blinker, but each piece of light reflection can help to alert you to your presence.

What is Craft’s reflexive range of clothes interesting? Compared to most competitive ranges, such as Asics (Late-Show), Brooks (Nightlife), Puma or Nike (Flash), Craft has the most reflective fabric combined with a decent functionality. In other words, it is not just a designer design, but also functional wear. In his pocket, Brilliant would push (in all directions) only Nike Flash, which, of course, requires a multiple purchase price.

We have selected two sets of clothes (ladies’ and men’s) for testing. These are the most common combination that a runner will use throughout the winter. The basis of each set is the long-lined Brilliant Thermal elastic, complemented by a unique men’s short sleeve jacket or a ladies’ toe with wind and waterproof finish.

Top 5 industrial accidents

44% of the employees who wear work clothing which has reflective tapes on it on the work floor in a factory, workshop or outdoor location indicate that they have ever experienced a trip and/or crash. A quarter sometimes made a mistake. This is shown by research commissioned by Manu tan among 865 employees who are involved in safety in the office environment and on the work floor in factories, workshops and outdoor locations in the Netherlands.

“It indicates that walking on the work floor is still not without risk,” says Jan Piet van Disk, Director Operations Benelux, and Safety Coordinator at Manu tan. “On the one hand, more attention should be paid to a clean, well-organized work floor, on the other hand, the proper use of personal protective equipment, from safety clothing to fall and hearing protection, is very important.”

The research also shows that safety devices are not always present in over 30% of cases, such as wearing reflective vests. “That is a high percentage,” says Van Disk. “Apparently safety is not yet taken seriously everywhere, but it is of course also important that the chosen protective equipment matches the requirements of the working environment.”

New fire extinguishers Brabant Southeast Fire Department

REGION – Safety Region Brabant-Southeast (VRBZO) presented the new fire extinguishers for Fire Brigade Brabant-Southeast last week. The new firefighting suits are equipped with the latest technologies and high light reflective tapes to provide firefighters optimal protection in all conditions.

The fabric used is strong and durable, while the light material color has the added advantage that soot and dirt are clearly visible. This makes it easier to estimate when the suit is ready for a wash than the current black suits. A clean suit is important for hygienic and safe working. VRBZO paid extensive attention in the tender for the functional wishes and safety of the firefighters themselves.

This new site offers extra cushioning around the shoulders so that pressure from breathing apparatus is better distributed. In addition, knee protection is firmer and the reflective striping(made from reflective fabric) can now also ‘breathe’ because it is perforated. The purchase of the extinguishing suits coincides with that of the new extinguishing helmets. For the latter, VRBZO has subscribed to an ongoing tender with six other security regions. VRBZO has opted for a red helmet with an inside that is easier to remove. The new neck flap is also detachable and is made of smooth material, which means less dirt and soot can stick to it.

In the first instance, six fire departments will work with the new clothes. Gamer, Bake, de Rips, Buddle, and Helmond were chosen because the need for new fire extinguishers at these stations is greatest. In 2017, all items must be equipped with the new safety clothing.

Pedestrian without reflective vest is dangerous in the country road

It is not always possible to brake in time, even when driving at the speed limit. Not only drivers should be especially careful. The same applies to inhabitants of the village, which is reminded by KRUS.

I am driving along the road, passing cyclists and I am happy to see that they are wearing reflective vests – the reader recounts. A few hundred meters away, I am angry, because the farmers clean the ground off the road – without any glare! Gray, because evening, they are dressed dark. It is good that they clean up after beet harvester or potatoes, but people! You cannot see it, and the driver is easily worried about the tragedy.

“Farmer, be safe while moving on public roads!” Autumn in full, dusk falls faster and the days are often rainy. Road traffic participants should take care of their visibility, “more than at any other time of the year they are exposed to deductions or traveling by vehicles”.

KRUS reminds that the problem largely affects rural residents. They often move on narrow, unlit roads, without sidewalks and paved roadsides, which are followed by unlit or insufficiently lit tractors coupled with agricultural machines, motorcycles, bicycles, etc., be indicated by the Cash Register. For pedestrians walking around dark outside built-up areas without wearing reflective clothing often means moving in the dark, and for drivers completely unpredictable circumstances – such as the sudden appearance of a pedestrian or parked vehicle on the side of the road or the edge of the road.

The pedestrian sees the vehicle from a distance much larger than the pedestrian can see. If we dress in dark clothing, at night in the spotlight we are visible only from a distance of 20-30 meters. “A car traveling with a permitted speed outside the built-up area of 90 km / h, overcomes a distance of 25 meters in one second. The chance for the driver to attempt to bypass the pedestrian is therefore close to zero. The pedestrian equipped with glare is visible from a distance of 130-150 meters.” This significantly increases the chance of reaction.

The reflector is recommended to be placed at knee, hand, and chest and back height

What are the rules? For the last 3 years, people who are after dark on roads outside built-up areas are obliged to have reflective tapes in a visible place. A fine threatens their lack. At night, they do not have to wear flares, people walking on a sidewalk or a road intended only for pedestrians, as well as moving in a residential area.

People is obliged to use reflective material at dusk

Every pedestrian, moving around the dusk along the way outside the built-up area, is obliged to use reflective material – such a provision is included in the amended Act on Road Traffic, which entered into force on Sunday.

Until now, only children under the age of 15 had the obligation to wear reflections. Now it has been extended to all pedestrians who will move around the dusk outside the built-up area. The pedestrian will be able to move without reflective elements at dusk only on the road intended exclusively for him or on the sidewalk or in the residential area, where the pedestrian takes precedence over the vehicle.

From Sunday, persons who do not comply with the new regulations may face a fine of 20 to 500 zlotys. Baronies, president of the Partnership for Road Safety stressed that this is a very important amendment. It is good that for the first time such a change appeared in the law, because shaping awareness is one thing, and the legal requirement is second and good if the legal requirement coincides with that awareness – he said.

He remarked, however, that a lot of work was still needed to make society aware of the importance of the problem. It is not just about fulfilling the duty and wearing any kind of reflection, just to wear something that is actually visible, that is, a sufficiently large, appropriately good quality material – he added.

The police officers, who are hardly visible to the driver, point out that the pedestrian, who moves on a dark road without reflections, is practically invisible. The driver is able to notice such a person only from a distance of 20-30 meters. However, if the pedestrian has reflective tapes, the driver can already see it from over 150 m.

Police officers distributed vests and reflectors to cyclists

Motorcycle Club, along with officers from the local police headquarters, carried out an action on the safety of cyclists under the slogan “Stay safe on the road” at the city marketplace.

Within it, cyclists received safety vests and reflective elements – informs Ursula, a representative of the police.

The uniforms warned that the autumn period, and consequently the early dusk, rainfall and thick fog caused the safety of vulnerable road users to be at risk. Lack of proper lighting of the bicycle and reflective tapes causes that both cyclists and the drivers do often not see pedestrians. This is particularly true outside the built-up area.

A spokesperson of the Communist party reminds that according to traffic regulations, pedestrians on the road after dusk outside the built-up area should be equipped with reflective material. Their absence exposes them not only to the penalty, but also to the danger of losing health and life.

Police action to prevent accidents involving pedestrians

Over the coming week, road police officers in reflective vest across the country will step up their actions to prevent road accidents involving pedestrians! The traffic police will act on a national level between 6 and 12 November, under the coordination of the Romanian Police Road Directorate, to save lives and to prevent road events involving pedestrians.

Activities are aimed primarily at combating pedestrian traffic violations. Particular attention will be paid to roadside potential areas as well as to road traffic occurrences caused by these deviations.

Romanian police in safety vest recommend pedestrians:

– To engage in crossing the public road only through specially arranged places (on the pedestrian crossing) and in the green color of the electric traffic light, where there is

– To ensure, even when in the pedestrian crossing, that the crossing can be safely (the vehicles are stopped before pedestrian marking, especially when the road has several lanes on the way)

– Never run across the pedestrian marker regardless of the emergency at any given time

– Not to move on the roadside, where there is no sidewalk or vestibule (predominantly in the countryside), move on the left side of the road as close as possible to the edge of the road

– In bad weather or dark, wear open-color clothing and / or reflective tapes to be visible

– Not to cross the front or rear of the public transport when they are stopped at the station

– Children should not be allowed to cross themselves – they are unpredictable and cannot appreciate distances and speeds correctly. Do not forget!

– Children imitate the road behavior of adults.

Vehicle drivers must reduce travel speed and travel with great care.

The pedestrian with reflective material is best seen at night

If the President signs the norm that has passed through the Senate on Wednesday, people will have to start looking for reflective material for night walks on the roads. The senators discussed the possibility that the pedestrians would be on their way with a flashlight. MF DNES has therefore tested the visibility of a person with different reflective material.

On Wednesday in the Senate, the law on traffic on the roads passed, which primarily introduces the obligation for pedestrians to wear in the dark outside the village a reflective element on clothing. If the president signs the standard, the nightwalkers should already be looking for such a “shining” stripe. The obligation will probably begin to apply in the spring before the days begin to prolong.

When approving the law, there was an objection from the liberals, it would be enough if the pedestrian were on the road with a torch and no one would have to make his arm wrap his reflective stripe. Even in the Chamber of Deputies, he even tried to suggest Deputy Stanislaw, but his idea did not pass. MF DNES therefore tested (for the second time), as it is visible to a motorist from a different distance pedestrian walking at the side. This time, we included a headlamp lamp in the test. From my subjective point of view and from the point of view of my fellow driver, the headlamp in the test won. The walker with the flashlight on his forehead can be seen up to 400 meters

Everything looked like I was walking along the white line at the edge of the road, the camera operator was coming across from me, and from the moment, he first saw me, he began to measure the distance until I arrived. With the flashlight on my forehead, I could see 400 meters. The glowing stripe attached to the arm was visible at half a distance of two hundred meters. On the other hand, in the pedestrian without the illuminating element, almost no distance could be measured. It was a maximum of thirty meters, which is very inadequate.

Just calculate the speed of 60 km / h, the car will drive 16 meters per second, so the driver will not be able to react at all. That is why I was afraid too. In addition to a slow-moving colleague, of course, another car that I did not know before did pass through the Choleric section. In the past test, we have also tried walking with a reflective jacket that carries the driver in the car kit (more about the test here). It was visible for three hundred meters, but it would not be nobody is wearing it on my way home from the pub.

The paradox is that a pedestrian with a flashlight will shine well, the driver will see it, but when a policeman sees him, he can just fine him. The flashlight is not a reflective element and does not comply with the law. In fact, this is probably not the case, because the police will not be so strict. “The deal with the police is such that we will not be fined. Police will give away those reflective tapes, “Dan Dick said to the Senators at the desk.

The senators discussed the possibility of allowing the lamp. Senator Pert Bratsk, who was responsible for the road law, was also in favor of him. In the end, they decided that they would rather pass the law at least with reflective tapes than to keep it up and pay no obligation. In the Senate, the procedure is that, if he wanted to add the batteries to the law, he would have to return it to the Chamber of Deputies. “We are debating whether a flashlight or a vest will be mandatory, and we will take the law off for six months?” Pert Vichy, a senator for CSSD, asked.

The sale of reflective elements has risen sharply

The public’s interest in reflective elements, which have been worn for reduced visibility since the weekend by an amendment to the Road Act, has surpassed all expectations. The protected workshop from Hradec, which produces safety accessories, recorded a 400 percent increase in orders from last Friday.

The company from Hradec Králové has observed the gradual increase in sales in recent weeks. In winter, this is a “cucumber season” and a sheltered workshop with seventeen employees has only a few orders per day. However, he is receives around 30 reflective merchandise daily.

“After the amendment to the law began to discuss radio and television, the growth was actually rocket and is still holding. People have so far neglected their security. They are hurrying now so they do not pay a fine. When asked, they admit they do not feel dangerously on the road, but they are more scared of fines and police, “says Marketing Secretary Kristina.

The greatest interest is for reflective tapes. Favorite tapes with Velcro fastener, but especially plastic self-adhesive tapes, which people can put on hand, foot, tube from the wheel or ear from the bag.

The hand strap is visible from almost every angle when moving. However, the ideal one is to have several reflective points that make the driver aware of the figure’s outline. Otherwise, it is threatening to repel the reflector, for example, with the back of the road. A black jacket and dark jeans are only visible for ten meters at night. Kristina’s reflective vests are the best choice in terms of safety. However, people do not care much about it.

“Many people have reservations against the high visibility vests that they look like garbage bins that do not fit their clothes. Fashion plays prime and life is overturned. The tapes are simply threaded, have a wide grip and can be easily removed and hidden in your pocket or handbag, “says the executive.
