People go to the mall to buy reflective vests

In “Tacna Center” one of the biggest trade fairs of Tacna, it is observed and draws attention to the sale of the famous reflective vests in Chile is compulsory for all drivers to use, but sometimes hard to find.

And the sale of the vests has become a real boom in the city of Tacna, as far as buyers have come to Arica, Iquique and Antofagasta.

 

“Yesterday I sold 120 vests. One person was 30. He said he was going to sell in Antofagasta” he tells Carmen Pizarro, who sells two types of vests, according to quality.

The law of supply and demand also took effect in Tacna, because last week vests were 8 soles ($ 1,600 national currency). However, today the cheapest is 18 soles ($ 3,600) and the most expensive at 25 soles ($ 5,000). Round business!

“However it is cheaper, because in Arica apart they were exhausted, the last one found were 8 and up to 10,000 pesos (about 50 soles in Peru)” says the taxi driver Perez.

 

The manager of Tacna, Maritza, estimates that every day should be sold over three thousand units vests.

“At first we did not understand why ask so much, we had to go online and see the press to know. Here much of the local make clothes, but in other areas of the city is also selling. There is a lot competition.” he said.

 

LAW AND FINES

Effective from January 1, 2016 came into effect the decree requires motorists to carry compulsorily, safety vests inside the emergency kit for each car. The measure occurs throughout Chile.

This new measure aims to reduce the risks of accidents and abuses in areas of low visibility or night, when drivers should get out of their vehicles to repair any damage.
